Everybody Knows Your Name

We believe that in our smaller, more intimate setting, residents and their families experience a level of care that is both profound and personal. Here, it’s not just about finding a place to stay; it’s about discovering a home where the staff knows you by name, understands your story, and becomes an integral part of your journey.

The HeartHomes Story: James Weyand

James Weyand, the owner of HeartHomes, embarked on his journey in Assisted Living in 1996. His experience began as the Chief Financial Officer for Colonial Manor Homes, the precursor to HeartHomes. Instrumental in navigating the complex landscape of construction financing and collaboration with Constellation Senior Services, a subsidiary of Baltimore Gas and Electric, James played a pivotal role in overseeing the financial aspects of 13 facilities.

After a brief stint in the tech industry and public CPA practice, James returned to his roots when his previous counterpart at Constellation Senior Services purchased eight facilities where James had previously served as CFO. Assuming the role of Director of Operations and CFO, he later acquired the buildings in 2008, becoming the owner/operator.

James’s commitment to caring for people, particularly in an often-overlooked age demographic, has defined his career over the past two decades. Choosing to have his offices within HeartHomes facilities, he routinely checks in on residents and staff, fostering a hands-on approach to care.

Believing in the advantages of smaller facilities, James emphasizes personalized service and a deeper connection with residents and their families. His core values of compassion, dignity, respect, and peacefulness reflect his vision for creating an environment where families can trust that their loved ones are known by name and personality.

A graduate with honors in accounting from a small Christian college near Philadelphia, James’s dedication extends beyond his professional life. As a follower of Jesus, he has participated in mission trips to Trinidad and Tobago and embarked on a cross-country bicycle journey for charity. James, a family man with a loving wife, three children, and two grandchildren, finds joy in spending quality time with his family and friends, engaging in activities like golf and staying active
