Quality of Life in Memory Care
You might wonder if moving to Memory Care is the beginning of the end. We want to assure you that it’s not. It’s a new beginning, filled with opportunities for your loved one to experience meaningful moments, build new friendships, and find purpose and joy in daily life.
Ensuring Safety and Well-being
The safety and well-being of your loved one are paramount. Our staff is carefully selected for their experience and understanding of memory care. We provide a supportive environment where your loved one’s unique needs are met, and they can continue to lead a fulfilling life.
Support for Families
We recognize that memory care affects not only the residents but also their families. HeartHomes Memory Care is not just a place for your loved one; it’s a place where you find support, empathy, and guidance. Our smaller-sized community allows us to know our residents well and individualize their day-to-day care.
Safety and Security
The well-being and safety of our residents are paramount, particularly for those in our Memory Care communities. We understand the unique challenges posed by memory-related conditions, and it is our unwavering commitment to provide a secure and nurturing environment. Here's how we prioritize safety and security:
Key Coded Magnetic Locks
Every entry and exit door within our Memory Care community is equipped with key-coded magnetic locks, adding an extra layer of security to ensure that only authorized individuals can access designated areas. This measure contributes to maintaining a controlled and safe environment for our residents.
Central Monitoring Station
In the event of an emergency, our central monitoring station is seamlessly connected to emergency medical services (EMS). This ensures swift response times and immediate assistance when needed, offering peace of mind to both residents and their families.
Security Cameras
Our commitment to safety extends to the installation of security cameras strategically placed in main areas, hallways, and outside perimeters of the building. This comprehensive surveillance system provides an additional layer of protection, enhancing overall security.
Remote Access for Managers
Managers at HeartHomes have the ability to access security cameras remotely, even when they are outside the building. This feature allows for constant vigilance, ensuring that our managerial team can monitor and respond promptly to any situation that may arise.
24-Hour Awake Staff
To maintain a secure environment, we have dedicated team members on-site 24 hours a day. Our trained and attentive team conducts 2-hour safety checks on each resident throughout overnight hours, providing continuous oversight to ensure their well-being.
Emergency Call Bell System
Each resident room and bathroom is equipped with an emergency call bell system, facilitating direct communication with our caregiving team. This system empowers residents to request assistance promptly, promoting a sense of security and prompt response.
Higher Staff-to-Resident Ratio
In our Memory Care communities, the staff-to-resident ratio is intentionally higher than in assisted living. That means more connection, more support, and more eyes available throughout the day. It’s one of the ways we help residents feel seen, safe, and genuinely cared for.
Specialized Training
Our caregiving team receives ongoing training to support residents with memory loss and cognitive challenges. From calming techniques to emotional reassurance, our staff is prepared to respond with patience, insight, and care.
Peace of Mind
At HeartHomes, we go above and beyond to create a Memory Care environment that not only fosters comfort and compassion but also prioritizes the safety and security of every resident. Families can trust that their loved ones are not just cared for but are enveloped in an environment designed to ensure their well-being and peace of mind.
Cost of Memory Care at HeartHomes
Cost is often one of the first questions families ask, so we keep it simple. Our memory care is all-inclusive, covering meals, personal care, medication support, activities, housekeeping, and 24-hour supervision.
It runs about $500 to $700 more each month than assisted living, reflecting the higher staff-to-resident ratio and the added safety and support your loved one receives. Our rates remain among the most affordable in the region, and we are always glad to walk you through the numbers. If you are planning how to pay for it, our guide on how Maryland families pay for care lays out the options.
